Identity Day in Early Years

We had a wonderful time on Identity Day!  Many students brought in something that was very special to them or something they loved.  Each child had an opportunity to share what they brought in and explain why it was special to them.  Then we displayed our items in a "museum" and walked around the museum carefully to view everyone's special items.  We also went to the other Early Years rooms to enjoy their museums.  Here are pictures of us with an item that we LOVE!

Here we are, walking around like "big people" do at museums:

The children were so excited to see what everyone brought in!
Next Friday, we will be touring the school to see what the other students in Roseland have brought to school for the School Wide Identity Day!

**Just a reminder to check your child's calendar for when they are the Leader of the Day.  If you need another outline for the Leader activity, please send a note in the Note Tote so your child has the opportunity to participate.

We LOVE the Healthy Snack program!

Thanks to all the volunteers who help prepare the snacks that fuel us each morning!
Thank you also to all the parents for sending their child to school every day with
HEALTHY FOODS.
This makes such a difference to your child's learning, stamina and ability to focus during the day.
Here's some ideas from our snack program:

Healthy Snacks
crackers, cheese, yogurt, applesauce, sandwiches, tortillas and cream cheese, apples, bananas, grapes, pears, berries, cucumbers, carrots, peppers, snap peas,  muffins, graham crackers, pineapple, bagels, WOW butter, hummus, granola bars, non-sugared cereal, raisins, popcorn

Busy at Work

The Early Years students have been busy getting to know one another and discovering the different materials and activities available to them in the classroom!
"We made a big city with the blocks!"

"I made a slide with the Lego!"

"We are playing with the farm."

"The cheetah is coming at night, so all the animals went inside to be safe!"

"My name goes up and down and up and down again...like this..."

Great work cleaning the science area up!

"Where does this piece go?"

Building 2 slides of different lengths to see which one goes faster.  We discovered that the shorter slide went faster.  The longer one had more tubing for the Lego Man to go through.

Singing our Weekly Poems

Enjoying "Old McDonald's Farm"

"Look how big I made it!"

"I like to be all colourful!"

"We made a big house for lots of people to live in!"

"Our house has a pool inside of it!"

"It's a birthday cake for all the kids in the class."

"We are swinging our babies to make them have so much fun!"
